IMPROVE YOUR GAME WHEN YOU CROSS-TRAIN WITH PILATES

Pilates exercises are oriented towards functional fitness, meaning that Pilates teaches you to move better in general, which enhances your overall performance. Pilates is an extremely effective and safe way to cross-train for all sports and activities. Pilates helps to improve core strength, muscle balance, posture, stability, strength and flexibility. Sessions can be tailored to your individual athletic needs and goals.

Here’s how you can take your game to the next level when you Cross-Train with Pilates.

BUILDS CORE STRENGTH
In Pilates, your instructor helps you train not only your major muscle group but also the deep intrinsic stabilizing muscles of the pelvis, abdomen and back that help these major muscles work more efficiently. Runners and hikers can power forward from their core so that their legs do not fatigue as quickly. Golfers learn how to use their obliques muscles to rotate the torso more efficiently on their swing.
FIXES MUSCLE IMBALANCES
When training for a specific sport, the body develops muscle imbalances due to certain repetitive movements. Pilates focuses on balancing opposing muscle groups by strengthening those that are weak and stretching those that are tight for optimal results. This increases both your flexibility and your strength.
IMPROVES BODY AWARENESS
Improve Your Game when you Cross-Train with PilatesIncreasing your body awareness will clue you in to what bad habits you may have gotten into as you have trained. Fine tuning your posture can make all the difference in the world. A full postural analysis is assessed by your Instructor while you are moving throughout the session, helping you to feel muscles activate that you never knew existed before!
REDUCES INJURY RISKS
Learning how to strengthen and stabilize hip and shoulder joints makes you more powerful and more resistant to injury. The unique adjustable springs on Pilates equipment provide resistance as the muscles contract, so there’s minimal stress on joints, ligaments & tendons. Pilates helps you rehabilitate old injuries and helps prevent you from acquiring new ones.
TEACHES PROPER BREATHING
Breathing properly gives the blood pumping through your body the oxygen it needs to improve the precision of your movements. Using thoracic breathing, which encourages you to breathe not just from the belly, but to allow the entire rib cage to fill up as you inhale, expanding the sides and back, will help build endurance. When you exhale in a way that connects your breath to your core, you will build more strength from within.

In fact, Noelle says she fell in love with Pilates after just one class and is certain others will as well.

Based in Kalispell, Montana, Pure Physique Pilates is a product of Noelle’s determination and desire to help others realize the benefits of Pilates.

Joseph PilatesPilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. It is named after its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s.

Among many factors in her life, an MLB player’s experiences led her to realize her calling and how she could help others the most.

JAKE ARRIETA'S EXPERIENCES WITH PILATES
During a low point in his career, all-star MLB Pitcher Jake Arietta discovered Pilates by chance when he walked into a studio in Texas one day. According to published reports in Business Insider and Sports Illustrated, he has said that he became “obsessed” with Pilates, which eventually helped him to improve his game.

According to Business Insider, he took sessions three times a week. He ordered a custom-built reformer for Wrigley Field and put it in the only space available, a cramped storage room that doubled as manager Joe Maddon’s media interview room.

Arrieta has since turned his garage into a Pilates studio, and his trainer works with him six days a week. “It’s an incredible experience,” Arrieta says in the article.

“Pilates has been around a long time but maybe was taboo in this sport. I think it’s only a matter of time before you see a reformer in every big league clubhouse.”

“What I noticed from Pilates last year was that I have much better control of my body,” Arrieta says. “I repeat my delivery consistently. My balance is much improved. And the mental and physical toughness Pilates requires to complete movements the correct way have directly helped me on the mound.”
